How long is my food safe certificate valid for?
Candidates that successfully complete the food safe or food handling course will receive a certificate that meets provincial standards and does not expire. Candidates in some provinces may be required to renew certification based on health inspectors request.
How long does the course take?
A food safe or food handling course takes approximately 8 hours to complete. The course is typically completed within one day, however, the majority of our training partners offer this course in a two, by four hour, day course.
How much does the course cost?
The food safe certification course costs anywhere from 55 to 85 dollars depending on your location. Higher level courses including FoodSafe level 2 and AHS courses cost approximately 125 dollars.
How do I register for a course?
To register for a course select the type of course you require from the side menu bar and select your location.
When do I receive my certificate?
Candidates that successfully complete the course will receive a food handling or food safe certificate immediately at the end of the course. Candidates names will be placed into the provincial registry wherever applicable.
My English is not that great, can I take the course in another language?
Yes, candidates have the opportunity at taking this course in several different languages. Visit our training partners websites and select the language that you prefer (if available). Reading manuals can also be purchased in different languages.
Does everybody working in a restaurant need a food safe certificate?
Check with your local and provincial health regulations to determine the people that are required to have this course. Many employers in the food service industry request that employee’s have completed this course prior to applying.
What should I wear to the course?
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes when attending this course. You will be moving around.
